Jena has different main train stations due to historical reasons and height differences.

  • Jena Paradies: It is near the river Saale. It used to be the station for long distance trains. As the train track from Munich to Berlin was build new, the track was rerouted to Erfurt. So there is not many long-distance trains left there. You can get connections to Halle (Saale), Berlin or Nürnberg, Munich from there. It is the train station, where you can get the train towards the conference venue.
  • Jena West: This train station is on the side of the city center up the hill. Trains to Erfurt arrive and leave there. If you come from Frankfurt or Munich airport you will arrive here.

To reach the conference center, you can take the train from Jena Paradies to Dornburg (Saale) train station (once per hour). We will organize a transport from there. It is also recommended to walk up (800 m, 100hm).

You can get week tickets at the train station, Deutsche Bahn with the app DB navigator, or VMT (using FAIRTIQ app) for 43 Euros. In case you want to travel more in Germany the Deutschlandticket for probably more than 63 Euros could be interesting. With it you can use all local trains and buses in Germany for a month. It is a subscription, so it needs to be terminated before the 10th of the month.
